BOOKING A PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION CAN BE NERVE WRACKING, AND BOOKING ONE FOR YOUR BRAND NEW BUNDLE OF JOY CAN FEEL LIKE IT CARRIES 10 TIMES THE PRESSURE. I’M HERE TO WALK YOU THROUGH THE PROCESS FROM START TO FINISH AND TAKE THE MYSTERY OUT OF YOUR SESSION
Before you Book:
First take a peek at my portfolio and see if my style is what you are looking for in a photographer. I tend to avoid more “formal” posing and instead will help guide you through ways to stand and move that will make you and your new baby look your best. The goal is to make your session as relaxed and fun as possible while capturing great memories.
Still unsure? Take a look at my Raves to see what others have to say about working with me!
Ready to Book?
Next, fill out my inquiry form to see if I’m available around your due date. This step doesn’t commit you to anything, I promise! This lets me know you are interested so we can discuss further if I am a good fit for you and your vision for your session. It is best to try and schedule at least 6-8 weeks in advance. This takes the pressure off of you trying to figure out if you have a Doctor’s appointment to work around, what you’re all going to wear, and if you can cram it in on a Tuesday afternoon at 1:30!
Newborn sessions are special when it comes to booking. The date you pick is approximate – babies usually don’t come on their due date! We will stay in communication in the weeks leading up to your big day, and I will keep a more open schedule to accommodate your Little One’s arrival! After you have delivered (and once you are all home and settled) send me an email or a text, and we will figure out what date and time works best for you! It is best to capture your newborn between 7-10 days old, but a little before or after will still work!
You’re Booked! Now What?
Once I’ve confirmed your session (Wahoo!) I will send you a proposal and a contract to sign. Then we will schedule your pre-session consultation*. This can happen by phone, e-mail, video chat or in person – whatever will make you feel most comfortable and work with your schedule. At this session we can discuss your vision for your session, your wardrobe choices, and any print options you are interested in. This meeting is very important so we both go into your photo session with clear expectations of how the big day is going to go. Ideally this meeting will happen 3-4 weeks before your session, but, well, babies
Then, it’s finally here – your big day! I will come to your home for your session. It is best if Baby has been fed approximately 30 minutes prior to my arrival so they are nice and sleepy. Also, please crank up the heat! Babies need it to be warmer so that they stay cozy. If Baby is snoozing, I will start with images of just baby all snuggled up. If Baby is awake, I will start with images of you and your little one interacting. There is no set time for a Newborn session, as frequent breaks are required (and expected!). Feel free to take all of the time you need for feeding, diaper changes and soothing. Don’t panic if I get there, start snapping, and Baby isn’t feeling photo ready on your session day – we will reschedule!
After Your Session:
After your session is over, and with your approval, I will post 1-2 sneak peeks on both Facebook, and here on my blog. Your final gallery will be ready for you to view online in approximately 2-3 weeks from your session date. You will be able to purchase a variety of different sized prints and canvases online through my website once the gallery is live. About 10 business days after your order is placed, you will receive it in the mail – ready to display and show off!
That’s it! Easy as pie, right? If you and I are starting to sound like a good match, here is a link to the current packages that are available – if you don’t see something that fits what you had in mind, just send me an e-mail, and I’ll do my best to create a custom package for you.
I am looking forward to hearing from you! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to send me an email at KateVodaPhotography@gmail.com
*Pre-session consultations are not available for Mini-sessions, as I have already picked a date, location, and theme. If you have any questions about wardrobe to match props or backdrops that will be used, don’t hesitate to ask! I’m always available by e-mail!
