Meet Kate

Welcome,

You realize just how fast time is going by, and how busy your days and weeks are. You want photos of your family but the iphone images taken on the fly of you in your yoga pants and mom bun with your little one's face smeared with sweet potato aren't quite what you had in mind.

You want a chance to ditch your sweats, look and feel amazing, and spend some quality time with your favorite people. You just need someone to take the stress and to-dos of planning it all off your plate, beautifully photograph those moments and connections, and let you hold that feeling in your heart - and in your hands- forever.

You’re in the right place, mama. That’s where I come in.

i'm so glad you are here!

Let's Connect!

I have been a professional photographer for 7 years, with the majority of those years focusing on newborns and families, and a nurse for 11 years with experience caring for patients ranging in age from 5 months to 90+ years old.

It wasn’t until having my son, however, that I realized how incredible the bond and connection between mother and child truly is. Due to a bumpy newborn period, it took me 9 months after having him to get in front of my own camera with my son and while I desperately wish I had done it sooner, those photos of the two of us are some of my most prized possessions.

None of us ever knows what life will give us tomorrow. After a cancer diagnosis for my husband, a road to motherhood for me that didn't look quite as expected, and learning that my sweet baby boy had Down syndrome, I have learned to appreciate the slow, quiet moments and the connections with my 2 favorite people.

Because of this, I approach every session with extra love, patience, and understanding. I focus on the special bond that you have with your family and all of the things about them that you want to remember forever. And I celebrate and honor the road it took to get to where you are.

MOTHER, WIFE, AND REGISTERED NURSE

I’M KATE. NEW JERSEY Maternity, NEWBORN AND POrtrait PHOTOGRAPHER

Right where you are now.
Trying your hardest to celebrate this incredibly fleeting, intensely terrifying time.
All while praying that you are making the right choices,
trying desperately to remember all of the appointments, diagnoses, and terminology, and mourning the loss of the "normal" that you were expecting.

I remember sitting on my floor rocking my sweet baby boy and having to talk myself into even doing "newborn" photos. He had been in the NICU and was already 5 weeks old - no longer a "newborn" . He still had his NG tube in and I wasn't sure I wanted that to be the focus of his photos.

But I did them anyway. I reminded myself that he wasn't going to be getting any younger or smaller, and that the tube was a very real, very important part of his story as fighter, and a part of our story as his parents.

I am SO glad that I have those photos to show him when he grows up - to show him just how incredible he's been since the day he was born.

So if you have had a NICU stay, or are a special needs parent who's child requires some extra patience or equipment - please do not hesitate to reach out to me about a session. Not only do I have experience as a NICU and special needs mother myself, but I am also a nurse with experience in working with a variety of medical equipment. I would love to speak with you, and I would be honored to be the one to help tell the story of your family's amazing strength and worth.

Oh, Mama. I've been there.

A note to my fellow special needs and NICU mamas

My philosophy is simple.

Take a moment to slow down amidst the chaos of everyday life and be intentional in making connections and memories with your favorite people - all while creating a beautiful visual legacy that can be enjoyed and handed down for years to come.
