More about me
I'm Kate, a photographer of motherhood and all of the love and change that it brings. Photographing your connection with your children brings me such joy, and I am so grateful that this career has chosen me.
Hi there!
I met up with Mallory at Peace Valley Park in Doylestown, PA on a Sunday evening for her maternity session. We had been going back and forth about having her session that day because the weather was looking a little unpredictable, but decided to move forward and risk the chance of some rain.
We walked from the parking lot at Pavillion 1 down a paved path to the first field. It was an easy 5-minute walk and we chatted along the way. I absolutely loved this location – it was beautiful with a light tree line to one side, and the lake and rolling hills behind it. The sun filtered through the trees and created a gorgeous glow on Mallory.
After chatting for a little bit, we started out with some simple poses to make sure Mallory was feeling comfortable being in front of the camera. She very quickly got into the flow of my posing and did an incredible job!
This is her third baby and she and her husband have decided to wait until the baby is born to find out whether it is a boy or a girl. I absolutely love that! I feel like in today’s day and age of instant gratification and having all the information we could possibly want right at our fingertips, there are so few true surprises left anymore.
This session was a hybrid maternity session which means that I was photographing both digitally and on film. I really love to photograph on film because it forces me to slow down, take my time with each image, and really consider every aspect of the photograph that I am creating. It feels more like an artistic process to me than digital photography does.
It’s always interesting to me to see if people can tell the difference between my film and digital images. Let me know in the comments which image from the two photos below you think was photographed on film!
This was such a beautiful session. Peace Valley Park is so calm and quiet. Even with people walking past where were photographing, it never felt busy or chaotic. We were able to enjoy our time and create some beautiful images for Mallory and her family to enjoy for generations to come.
Please enjoy some more of her beautiful maternity photos!
